Nine check types on each page
An observation is one check on one captured page. HTML is the page code supplied to this checker; we read it without running that page's JavaScript.
There are nine scored HTML check types, repeated on each page: one page normally means 9 expected observations, two pages 18, and three pages 27. Eighteen observations are not eighteen different measures. The check reads the submitted page and at most two selected linked pages; it is not a whole-site audit.
What Pass, Review and Unavailable mean
Pass means the specific rule below passed in the inspected material. Review means the rule needs a closer look; it is not proof of harm or lost sales. Unavailable means the observation could not be established. It earns no pass and is excluded from the percentage, rather than counted as a failure.
A valid HTTP or HTTPS final page URL and a successful response with inspectable HTML are needed for content checks. Missing status, a failed response, empty/uninspectable content or a detected access-challenge page can leave content observations unavailable. The analyzer reads at most 512 KiB of HTML and 5,000 tags per page. Truncated or malformed HTML, an unclosed title and JavaScript-only shells can make absent elements unavailable rather than missing. Positive observations can still be recorded where the rule supports them.
HTTPS destination
Pass: the final page URL uses HTTPS. Review: it uses HTTP. An invalid/non-HTTP(S) URL is not assessed. This does not test certificates or establish whole-site security.
Page response
Pass: the supplied HTTP status is 200-299. Review: a valid status in 100-599 is outside that range. Unavailable: no valid status was supplied. Error or blocked-page HTML is not diagnosed as the business page.
Page title
Pass: the first title element has nonempty text. Review: no usable title is found in reliably inspected HTML. Unavailable: absence cannot be established from incomplete HTML or a JavaScript shell. Wording quality, relevance and search performance are not graded.
Page description
Pass: the first description meta field has nonempty content. Review: it is absent or empty in reliably inspected HTML. Unavailable: absence cannot be established from incomplete HTML or a JavaScript shell. Search services may ignore or rewrite descriptions.
Mobile viewport declaration
Pass: the first viewport meta declaration contains width=device-width. Review: that setting is missing or different in reliably inspected HTML. Unavailable: the setting cannot be established from incomplete HTML or a JavaScript shell. A phone layout is not rendered or usability-tested.
Explicit indexing exclusion
Review: a noindex or none token is found in robots, googlebot or bingbot meta content, or supplied X-Robots-Tag headers. The exclusion may be intentional; review its purpose before changing it. Pass: no such exclusion is found and absence is reliable. Unavailable: incomplete inspection makes absence uncertain. A JavaScript shell alone does not make this rule unavailable. Robots.txt, actual indexing and rankings are not checked.
Main heading structure
Pass: exactly one H1 is found with nonempty text. Review: there is no nonempty H1, or more than one H1, in the inspected HTML. Unavailable: a JavaScript shell prevents inspection, or an absent/empty heading cannot be established because inspection is incomplete. Multiple H1s alone do not prove a defect or search penalty; the meaning of the writing is not graded.
Contact or inquiry route
Pass: a recognized phone/email link, contact-action link or possible inquiry form is present. Contact-action links match contact, quote, book/booking, appointment or enquiry/inquiry words in their text or accessible label, the phrase "get in touch", or matching action words in the destination path. Inquiry forms match contact/action words in their identity/text or contain a textarea. Form identities matching search, subscribe, newsletter, login, sign-up/signup or register are excluded; a supplied form action must resolve to HTTP(S). Review: none is recognized in reliably inspected HTML. Unavailable: absence cannot be established from incomplete HTML or a JavaScript shell. Destinations and submissions are not tested; recognition does not prove the contact route works.
Image text alternatives
Review: an image without an alt attribute is an informative-image candidate because it has role="img" or a nonempty title, and it is not otherwise labelled or explicitly decorative. Unavailable: no qualifying review candidate is found but other missing-alt images have unclear informative/decorative purpose, or rendered images are unavailable in a JavaScript shell. A qualifying review candidate takes priority over other unclear-purpose images. Pass: no such unlabelled candidate is identified, including when no image elements are found. An existing alt attribute, even empty, is not flagged by this limited missing-alt rule. Presentation/none roles, aria-hidden="true", aria-label and aria-labelledby are recognized exceptions; their correctness is not verified. Image purpose, alternative-text quality, CSS images and full accessibility require human review.
How the categories fit together
- Do your pages include the basics to describe your services? title, description and main-heading structure.
- Does your website provide a way to contact you? HTTPS, response and contact/inquiry route.
- Does your website include mobile and search basics? viewport, indexing directive and image alternatives.
- Does your website have the basics in place? All nine types together, with no extra category weighting.
New free results include measured pass rates for each category, with available and unavailable observation counts. Missing category scores stay unavailable; they are never inferred from the overall score or findings. Older saved results may require a new check to include categories. The numbers below belong to the labeled sample.
Formula and coverage requirements
Overall score = passed observations / available observations x 100, rounded once to the nearest whole number. Available = Pass + Review. Each available observation has equal weight. The score is not an average of rounded category percentages; task severity, recommendation counts and purchase eligibility do not change its weight.
A numeric score requires 1-3 consistently identified pages, no duplicate page/check observations, and at least six of the nine types available on every expected page. Missing types become unavailable. A failed planned linked page contributes nine unavailable observations and prevents an overall score, even if the completed homepage passed. Declared page counts and the expected page set must agree. When coverage is insufficient, the score remains unavailable. A score of 100 means every available observation passed; other observations or website features may remain unassessed.
- 0-59: Fail
- 60-79: Good start, but needs work
- 80-100: Looks good - see our recommendations
These are display bands for the measured HTML pass rate, not a grade for the whole business. Missing scores are Unavailable, never Fail. Review the available observations and general next steps at every score, including green.
The 18 observations in this two-page sample
Sample results for your-business.com - no website checked. These are fictional sample pages illustrating the calculation, not findings from that domain or any customer. Each page repeats the same nine types. Both sample images are informative-image candidates with role="img" and a nonempty title, no alt attribute and no alternative accessibility label.
Sample page 1 - observations 1-9
- HTTPS: Pass - final sample URL uses HTTPS.
- Response: Pass - sample status is 200.
- Title: Pass - a nonempty title is present.
- Description: Review - no description meta field is present.
- Viewport: Review - no width=device-width declaration is present.
- Indexing directive: Pass - no noindex/none exclusion is found.
- Main heading: Pass - exactly one nonempty H1 is present.
- Contact route: Review - no recognized route is present.
- Image alternative: Review - a qualifying informative-image candidate lacks alt.
Sample page 2 - observations 10-18
- HTTPS: Pass - final sample URL uses HTTPS.
- Response: Pass - sample status is 200.
- Title: Pass - a nonempty title is present.
- Description: Pass - a nonempty description meta field is present.
- Viewport: Review - no width=device-width declaration is present.
- Indexing directive: Pass - no noindex/none exclusion is found.
- Main heading: Pass - exactly one nonempty H1 is present.
- Contact route: Review - no recognized route is present.
- Image alternative: Review - a qualifying informative-image candidate lacks alt.
Sample totals: 11 Pass + 7 Review = 18 available observations. Overall: round(11 / 18 x 100) = 61. Page information: 5 / 6 = 83. Contact basics: 4 / 6 = 67. Mobile/search basics: 2 / 6 = 33. Each percentage is rounded from its own raw counts.
What this score does not measure
This is a dated public-HTML snapshot. It does not execute page JavaScript, render a browser/mobile layout, submit forms, test link destinations, place calls or bookings, or measure speed/Core Web Vitals, full SEO, whole-site security, accessibility compliance, writing effectiveness, revenue, conversion, operations or financial health. Google Business Profile accuracy, indexing outcomes, rankings, leads, sales and AI-answer inclusion are not established.
Structured-data validity, relevance and search eligibility are explicitly unassessed. Their unavailable entry is outside the nine-type scoring registry and does not add an earned pass, failure or tenth scored type. Basic HTML checks and sample scores are not promises of business results.
This score does not assess every service offered by Action Enterprises. Quote follow-up work, Google Business Profile work and other services need their own scope and evidence.
